Song of the Soul Opens, Marathon Kirtan, and a Week of Service Across Miami

It was a week that took Sacred Vedic Arts from a landmark gallery opening to a six-hour kirtan, a new home altar, and service stops across Miami, from a senior center to the streets downtown.

Friday, September 11

Song of the Soul Opening Night
Over 200 people attended the long-anticipated opening of the Song of the Soul art exhibition. A panel featured gallery manager Bayunga Kialeuka, co-curator Manjari dasi, co-curator and head of Contemporary African Diaspora Arts Ludlow Bailey, Executive Coach Ashira, and Her Grace Srimati Syamarani Dasi. Her Grace led guests on a tour of the gallery, and the night closed with the first live performance by SuaveBhav, drawing from his album From My Heart to Yours, and an uproarious kirtan.

Saturday, September 12

Age of Kali Play
A full house was enlivened and inspired by the Age of Kali play. Many attendees commented that it was refreshing to see a play so accurately portray the universal difficulties of dealing with the mind.

Sunday, September 13

6 Hour Kirtan
SVA held its first ever six-hour kirtan mela. Devotees and guests chanted, sang, and danced for hours on end.

Wednesday, September 16

Yoga at the Local AARP Meeting
Nitai prabhu led a calming, meditative yoga class for senior citizens at the local AARP meeting at Charles Hadley Park. The organizers were impressed enough to invite SVA back each month, and several attendees asked about coming to SVA’s own events.

Interested in having SVA lead a yoga and meditation class at your event? These classes are offered on a donation basis, purely in a mood of service. Email info@sacredvedicarts.org.

Thursday, September 17

  • Book Distribution at FIU: Devotees visited FIU to distribute books and talk with students about spiritual philosophy.
  • Home Program at Aditya Prabhu’s: Aditya prabhu invited SVA to his home to welcome new Deities and Their altar. Attendees chanted the holy names, heard about the Lord’s glories, and shared vegetarian prasadam.

Friday, September 18

  • Radhasatami at SVA: A beautiful celebration in honor of the Divine Goddess, with kirtan, talks on Her glories, and a love-filled vegetarian feast.
  • Ganesh Puja at FIU: Earlier in the evening, devotees joined the Hindu Student Association for a Ganesh Chaturthi puja. Nikunja Vilasi prabhu connected with the 40 students present through their cultural and spiritual heritage.

Saturday, September 19

  • Prasadam Distribution to the Unhoused: Devotees distributed vegan prasadam meals to unhoused neighbors in downtown Miami.
  • DharmaLight Foundation’s Dharma & Democracy: A few devotees attended, connecting with local civic leaders and longtime SVA supporters, and exploring ways to deepen SVA’s connection with American-born youth navigating questions of identity and purpose.

Sunday, September 20
