Art, Harmony, and Academic Collaboration

May 26, 2026

It was a vibrant week focused on preserving sacred heritage, fostering academic partnerships, and sharing messages of universal balance.

From restoring classic artwork to collaborating with local university faculty, the community found beautiful ways to connect ancient wisdom with contemporary life.

An Unexpected Blessing

The community was treated to an extra day of association as Sripad Bhaktivedanta Madhava Maharaj returned to Miami briefly before flying out to Guyana. His brief stay provided one final opportunity for devotees to gather, reflect, and send him off with warm wishes as he continues his global tour sharing the supremely loving teachings of the lineage.

Preserving Sacred Art

Four original paintings by Her Grace Syamarani Didi arrived at the temple, Venu-gita (BBT version), Cupid Attacks Markendeya Rsi, Slaying the Mathura Guards, and Gopi-gita calling, showing signs of fading after decades without specialized preservation care. In response, a major restoration project was quickly launched. Didi engaged many of the younger devotees in the detailed process of cleaning and touching up the canvases, turning the preservation of these sacred images into a collaborative, hands-on meditation.

Academic and Cultural Exchange

The temple hosted a special cultural exchange as leaders and faculty from Florida International University’s (FIU) Green School of International and Public Affairs, along with the Public Humanities Lab, visited for a private tour. HG Syamarani dasi guided the guests through the art gallery, followed by an enchanting singing of Gopi Gita and soulful kirtan led by Radhika Manchanda and a shared lunch. The meeting sparked inspiring discussions regarding an upcoming collaboration aimed at bringing the art and philosophy of the Bhagavad Gita directly to university students.

Coastal Outreach and Street Chanting

The focus turned to neighborhood outreach on Thursday afternoon as Atulananda, Gadagraja, and Haridas prabhus traveled to South Beach to distribute books and speak with interested seekers. Later that evening, the energy shifted to the Design District, where a larger group of devotees held a lively harinam procession, filling the streets with joyful performance of the yuga dharma.

The weekly kirtan program brought everyone together to unwind and center themselves through congregational chanting. The evening of music concluded with a delicious, freshly prepared plant-based ziti prasadam feast that offered a perfect opportunity for community members to catch up and relax.

Childhood Melodies in Delray and Kirtan at the Farm

Devotees traveled north to Delray Beach for an evening home program dedicated to Sri Sri Radha and Krishna. Radhika Manchanda and Srivishnu Ramankutty led beautifully resonant kirtans, inspiring the guests to sing along with the traditional bhajans of their childhood, which highlighted a deep, lifelong devotion. Radhika also spoke about Syamarani Didi’s immense dedication to her teachers through her artistic service, and the night closed with a flavorful, plant-based blessed meal.

A small group of kirtanistas from Sacred Vedic Arts was invited back to the unique urban Miami farm community Earth ‘N Us for a breezy Saturday night festive Kirtan lead by Gadagraja Prabhu. As the gathering began an opera singer opened the floor with a stirring rendition of Ave Maria while goats, roosters, hens, geese, sheep, birds, dogs, cats and their human friends cozied up to the stage and leaned in to savour the familiar ringing of kartalas (Indian finger cymbals) and the low bass thump of mrdangas (Indian two sided drums). Like a cooling wind on the sun soaked skin, the Maha Mantra call and response Kirtan began to lift the mood of the throng into the transcendental realm and mellow of bhajan. Animals and humans began to sway and many two leggeds began to stand and dance and sing back that ancient refrain Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare – 16 words and 32 syllables infused with the higher taste of love and service for God. Back and forth, back and forth, like dancing partners mirroring each other, the mantra grew steadier, louder and more emphatic as more gathered to participate in true being, knowledge and bliss encapsulated in the Great Deliverance mantra.

As the stars began to peak out from the space of the great beyond, hearts melted and some tears of joy fell upon the Earth , an offering of gratitude for the opportunity to all go back home to Godhead in a universal love choir song, sung in harmony for the love of all beings. Kombucha was shared as the SVA group quietly slipped away back to their temple leaving Earth ‘N Us eager to have them back when another gathering allowed.

Haribol sweet souls, Haribol (chant the Holy Names, Praise the Lord, sing the Names of God).

Finding True Harmony

During the Sacred Sunday program, Syamarani dasi gave an insightful talk focused on establishing genuine balance within oneself, with others, and across broader society. Drawing from the Harmony book—a compilation of teachings by Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja—the class highlighted how spiritual principles offer a practical foundation for peace. The day wrapped up with another vibrant evening harinam through the busy Design District.
